Do you “leak” when you laugh, cough, sneeze, or work out? Have you been experiencing decreased arousal or orgasm during intercourse? Is vaginal dryness causing you daily discomfort?

At Craig Ranch OB/GYN in McKinney, Texas, we want to stop leakage and pain and help you to start enjoying the things you love with Viveve® Vaginal Rejuvenation. Founded in 2000 by Dr. Andrew Shimer, our practice is home to a team of board-certified physicians with over 50 years of combined experience in gynecology and obstetrics. Our providers are leaders in the latest advancements, including non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation.

What Is Viveve® Vaginal Rejuvenation?

The Viveve® System is a non-surgical treatment that works to rebuild lost vaginal tissue. It uses radiofrequency energy to heat the vaginal tissue and encourage new collagen production. This improves elasticity, moisture, and tone, all while being non-invasive, painless, and requiring no downtime.

Vaginal rejuvenation is an option for women who experience vaginal changes due to childbirth, hormones, lifestyle, or aging.

How Does Viveve Work?

The treatment is performed with a small, handheld wand-like device that delivers controlled radiofrequency energy. The tip of the device is gently inserted just inside the vaginal opening, where it sends radiofrequency waves into your body. This energy immediately converts to heat – the key to producing new collagen.

When the body senses heat in the dermis layer of the skin, it thinks you’ve been hurt and responds with a wound-healing response. From there, the body starts producing new collagen and elastin to heal the “wound,” even though there isn’t any wound.

This boost in collagen is what thickens, tightens, and firms the vaginal skin, as collagen provides the structural framework that supports our skin across our body, including the vaginal tissues. Viveve does all of this without any incisions, tissue trauma, scarring, or pain.

How Viveve Treatment Compares With Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation in McKinney

Before non-surgical treatments like Viveve, women who wanted to tighten vaginal tissues often had to have surgery. Surgical options, such as vaginoplasty or labiaplasty, involved cutting and reshaping tissues to improve tightness or appearance. However, these surgeries come with risks like changes in sensation, pain, dryness, and scarring, which is why they aren’t recommended for aesthetic reasons.

In contrast, Viveve offers a safer, non-invasive option that uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production, restoring tissue strength and tone without the need for surgery, recovery time, or significant risks.

Who Are the Ideal Candidates for Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Viveve vaginal rejuvenation can be a great option for nearly any woman, especially if you’re dealing with:

  • Vaginal laxity or lack of lubrication due to childbirth, aging, lifestyle, or genetics
  • Difficulty reaching climax or discomfort during sexual intercourse
  • Stress urinary incontinence, which can cause embarrassing leakage during daily activities

Viveve is ideal for women who want to restore their intimate health, whether it’s to feel more comfortable, improve sexual satisfaction, or be more active without leakage. It’s also a great option for maintaining pelvic floor tone as you age.

Health Requirements:
Candidates should be in good health and have a clear understanding of what the treatment can achieve based on a consultation. However, Viveve is not suitable for women with pacemakers, defibrillators, or cardioverters.

Vaginal Tissue Rebuild McKinney TX

You can resume most of your normal activities right after your Viveve treatment, except for sexual intercourse. We recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours after your procedure before having sex or inserting anything into the vagina, like a tampon. This gives your body time to start regenerating tissue quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does This Procedure Take?

These are completely non-invasive treatments that take just 30-45 minutes. You can return to your normal activities immediately after the session with no downtime.

How Soon After Giving Birth Can I Have Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

At Craig Ranch, our gynecologists recommend waiting for six weeks after delivery to have Viveve. This allows your body time to heal properly before undergoing the treatment.

How Can I Prepare for My Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedure?

You don’t need to take any special precautions before your Viveve vaginal rejuvenation procedure. If we do have any recommendations based on your circumstances, we will discuss them during the consultation.

Are There Side Effects With a Viveve Treatment?

You may have heard of problems with skin damage due to laser vaginal rejuvenation treatments. Viveve isn’t a laser treatment. Viveve uses radiofrequency energy to strengthen the tissues and trigger new collagen production. Radio waves are all around us all the time, just not concentrated like they are in the Viveve procedure.

The only reactions to RF treatments are usually very mild swelling on the treated skin, redness, and some sensitivity, but these issues pass quickly. Otherwise, you’ll have no downtime and can return to your normal activities immediately.

Will I Have Any Scarring From My Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatment?

No, there are no incisions and no tissue damage with this treatment, so it cannot result in any scarring.

Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Safe?

The Viveve radiofrequency device has been thoroughly tested and is generally considered to be very safe, and certainly much safer than surgical options. The cooling technology protects the surface of your skin while the radiofrequency energy gently heats the deeper tissues.

Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Painful?

No. Viveve treatment is performed with a sterile applicator tip that is about the size of the thumb. This tip is inserted just inside the vaginal opening, where it alternately heats and cools tissue.

The cooling allows the device to achieve more significant heating of tissue a few millimeters deep without discomfort. There is no need for anesthetic of any kind. During the procedure, you may sense the intervals of warming and cooling, but no patients have described this as painful.

How Soon Before You Will Notice Your Results From Viveve Treatment

Once delivered, the radiofrequency energy immediately begins tightening the interior and exterior tissues. The effects of Viveve vaginal rejuvenation then start to build up gradually.

You may notice improvements in lubrication, sensitivity, and muscle tightness after about four weeks, but more significant changes usually appear around three months. These results can last 12 months or even longer.

How Long Will My Results From Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Last?

Viveve results last around one year, but if you have a “touch-up” appointment at Craig Ranch OB/GYN one year after your initial treatment, your results can expand to up to three years.

How Much Does Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Cost?

We are happy to consult with you about the vaginal rejuvenation process, recovery, and benefits. During your consultation, we can determine if Viveve is the best approach for you. At that time, we can provide detailed information on the cost of treatment based on your needs.

Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Covered by Insurance?

Viveve vaginal rejuvenation treatment is considered an elective procedure, so it is not covered by insurance.
