Do you leak when you are laughing, coughing, sneezing, or working out? Are you a patient that has a decreased arousal or orgasm during intercourse? Are you experiencing discomfort from vaginal dryness? At Craig Ranch OB/GYN we want to stop leakage and pain and help you to start enjoying the things you love with Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation.

What Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

The Viveve System is a non-surgical treatment that works to rebuild lost vaginal tissue. Vaginal rejuvenation is an option for women who experience vaginal changes due to childbirth, hormones, lifestyle, or aging.

How Viveve treatment compares with surgical vaginal rejuvenation

Prior to the development of this technology for triggering new collagen production, women who wanted to tighten up sagging vaginal tissues needed to resort to surgery. Depending on the goals, cosmetic versus functional, a patient could have vaginoplasty or labiaplasty. Vaginoplasty sought to tighten the loosened vaginal tissues surgically. Labiaplasty surgically addressed the outer tissues for appearance and possible interference with activities, such as riding a bike or certain workouts.

As you would assume, these procedures include high risks for permanent changes in sensation, ongoing pain, dryness, and scarring. Due to these risks, the American Society of Plastic Surgery does not endorse any vaginal surgeries for aesthetic reasons.

In contrast, Viveve uses radiofrequency energy to penetrate the outer epidermis and enter the dermis, the skin’s second layer. When the RF energy enters the dermis, it immediately converts to heat, and this is the key to the production of new collagen.

When the body senses heat in the dermis layer of the skin it assumes a wound has occurred and it responds with a wound-healing response where the collagen in the area is immediately remodeled, a kind of quick fix to address the wound (even though there isn’t any actual wound at all). From there, the body initiates production of new amounts of collagen and elastin to heal the perceived wound, although there isn’t any wound. This boost in collagen is what thickens, tightens, and firms the skin, as collagen is the protein responsible for providing the structural framework that supports our skin across our body, including the vaginal tissues.

Viveve does this without any incisions, tissue trauma, scarring, or pain.

How soon after giving birth can I have Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

At Craig Ranch, our gynecologists recommend waiting for six weeks after delivery to have Viveve.

Who Are The Ideal Candidates For Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Nearly any woman can be a good candidate for Viveve vaginal rejuvenation. Women experience vaginal laxity and lack of lubrication for several reasons, including lifestyle, genetic predisposition, childbirth, and aging. The effects of motherhood and aging may make it difficult for a woman to climax during sexual intercourse or even feel comfortable when having sex. Vaginal laxity can lead to stress urinary incontinence, as well, an embarrassing problem that can affect the quality of life. Viveve cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency technology can correct all of these problems in a single visit.

Viveve treatment can be ideal for a woman who wants to revitalize her intimate health after life changes. It can be an excellent option for female athletes or women who want to be more active in their lives without the discomfort of urine leakage. Viveve is also appropriate for women who want to maintain the tone of their pelvic floor as they age.

Candidates should be in good health and should understand the predicted outcome of their treatment based on our consultation. Viveve is not suitable for women with pacemakers or an implanted defibrillator or cardioverter.

Benefits Of Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatments

Viveve treatment provides patients with the following benefits:

  • Improved orgasm
  • Increased lubrication
  • Urethra support
  • Improved arousal

Are there side effects with a Viveve treatment?

You may have heard of problems with skin damage due to laser vaginal rejuvenation treatments. Viveve isn’t a laser treatment. Viveve uses radiofrequency energy to strengthen the tissues and trigger new collagen production. Radio waves are all around us all the time. They are simply not concentrated as in a Viveve procedure. The only reactions to RF treatments are usually very mild swelling on the treated skin, redness, and some sensitivity, but these issues pass quickly. Otherwise, patients have no downtime and can return to their normal activities immediately.

Will I have any scarring from my Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation treatment?

These are completely non-invasive treatments, taking just 30-45 minutes. There are no incisions and no tissue damage. The Viveve system incorporates “cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency technology” that delivers tissue heating in the dermis layer of the skin while gently cooling the surface tissue. This keeps the patient completely comfortable, without any need for any anesthesia or numbing. These are simple, easy-to-handle treatments.

The Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedure In McKinney, TX

Our team at Craig Ranch OB/GYN will walk you through these steps during a consultation. First, we insert a small tip just inside the vaginal opening. While rotating the treatment tip, it will cool the surface and heat the soft tissue beneath. As a result, new collagen forms and provides structure and strength. In addition, the increased collagen decreases laxity and restores sensation. The entire procedure takes about 30 - 45 minutes.

How Can I Prepare For My Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedure?

Patients need not take special precautions before their Viveve vaginal rejuvenation procedure. If we do have any recommendations based on individual circumstances, we will discuss them during the consultation.

What Is The Recovery From Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Patients may resume most normal activities right after their Viveve treatment, aside from sexual intercourse. We advise patients to wait 24 to 48 hours after their procedure to have sex or insert anything into the vagina, such as a tampon. This allows tissue regeneration to begin quickly.

The effects of Viveve vaginal rejuvenation accrue gradually. Patients may begin to notice a difference in lubrication, sensitivity, and muscle tightness after about 4 weeks, though notable improvement typically is not felt until three months after treatment has taken place. These effects can last 12 months or longer.

Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Safe?

The Viveve radiofrequency device has been thoroughly tested. No treatments have resulted in adverse effects. The inclusion of cryogen cooling maintains safe surface temperatures while monopolar radiofrequency is absorbed into deeper tissues, so the process is both safe and comfortable.

Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Painful?

No. Viveve treatment is performed with a sterile applicator tip that is about the size of the thumb. This tip is inserted just inside the vaginal opening, where it alternately heats and cools tissue. The cooling allows the device to achieve more significant heating of tissue a few millimeters deep without discomfort for the patient. There is no need for anesthetic of any kind. During the procedure, patients may sense the intervals of warming and cooling. No patients have described this as painful.

How soon before you will notice your results from Viveve treatment

Viveve Vaginal Rejuventation

Once delivered, the radiofrequency energy immediately begins tightening the interior and exterior tissues. These tightening effects of Viveve are immediate and continue to improve over the next three to four months after your appointment. Viveve results last around one year, but if you have a “touch-up” appointment at Craig Ranch OB/GYN one year after your initial treatment your results can expand to up to three years.

How long will my results from Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation last?

Results with the radiofrequency energy of Viveve are similar to those with RF energy for skin rejuvenation on the face and neck. Results aren’t immediate, as it takes time for the body to ramp up its collagen production to the vaginal tissues treated with Viveve. You can expect to feel improvements within a few weeks. On average, peak results will appear anywhere from six to 12 weeks after your Viveve session at Craig Ranch.

How Much Does Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Cost?

We are happy to consult with you about the vaginal rejuvenation process, recovery, and benefits. During your consultation, we can determine if Viveve is the best approach for you. At that time, we can provide detailed information on the cost of treatment based on your needs.

Is Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation Covered By Insurance?

Viveve vaginal rejuvenation treatment is considered an elective procedure so it is not covered by insurance.
