About Helena Alvarez
Helena Alvarez, MSN, CNM, is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with more than 15 years of experience caring for women and families. A lifelong DFW resident, Helena began her career as an OB/GYN medical assistant before becoming a registered nurse and spending six years in Labor and Delivery at Parkland Health in Dallas. Her time at Parkland gave her the opportunity to care for women from diverse backgrounds and serve the underserved communities of her hometown.
Working alongside midwives inspired Helena to pursue her own path in midwifery. Her passion for this work is also deeply personal. Through her own experiences with pregnancy and birth, including both joyful and challenging moments, Helena came to understand how important it is for women to feel heard, informed, respected, and supported. She believes every woman deserves care that honors her individual needs, values, and goals.
Helena strives to combine evidence-based medicine with compassionate, personalized care. One of her most meaningful experiences has been being present for the births of both of her grandchildren—an experience that deepened her appreciation for the privilege of supporting families as they welcome new life.
Outside of midwifery, she enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, reading, learning, and being outdoors. She especially loves relaxing with her family around their backyard firepit on a cool fall evening.
Helena feels honored to walk alongside her patients through pregnancy, birth, and every stage of their journey. Her goal is to create a trusting relationship where every patient feels seen, heard, respected, and empowered in their care.
